Hormonal endogenous changes in response to the exogenous 6-benzylaminopurine application in pre- and post-harvesting lilium flower stalks

Abstract Phyto-hormones play a key role in regulating plant responses to stress. Cytokines are type of phyto-hormones involved the regulation many important biological processes related growth, development, and response environmental variables. The exogenous application cytokines increases possibility delaying senescence; however, this is physiological process, and, under certain conditions, degradation may be triggered. effect 6-bencilaminopurine endogenous hormonal changes lilies floral stalks after their cutting were studied. In order improve vase life quality Lilium longiflorum ‘Brindisi’ flower stalks, they sprayed with 6-BAP, at concentration 300 ppm pre-harvest, post-harvest, pre- post-harvest stages. After that, compared non-sprayed control stalks. 6-BAP caused abscisic acid cytokinin levels, most effective treatment was pre-harvest spraying. This proved an appropriate method stalk tolerance stress as it delayed appearance senescence symptoms reduced speed chlorophyll differences up 10% respect untreated addition, opening flowers by 2 days, although there no significant total life.
